The University coliseum: A big modern sports center

The terms of reference by which the University received proposals for engaging the construction of the first stage of the coliseum at the University Campus, will be published on the University portal, until Friday, February 18.

The initial budget intended for this work is around 8.595 million pesos.  

This construction is planned to have a developed area of 6.617.87 sqm. It makes part of the strategic actions set out in the University of  Antioquia Development Plan.   

The coliseum is planned as a modern, large and comfortable built intended for the practice of various sports, as well as artistic performances, and to encourage the university community to use its free time beneficially. 
                    

Indoors there is a sports complex as well as other zones conditioned for the proper training of gymnastics, weightlifting, taekwondo, judo, karate, aikido, table tennis, recreational sports, and chess. The facilities also hold 2 dance rooms, student choir, VIP zone, and broadcast booths for sporting events. This place is intended not only for the practice of several sports but it also will accommodate 2054 spectators when special events or performances take place there.

                       

The President’s Office, the Vice-Chancellor for Administration's Office and the Student Welfare Office, are in charge of this significant project intended not only to benefit the university community but specially for sport training of the students.
