  Structural analysis and design course The University of Antioquia School of Engineering is pleased to offer a refresher course for Civil Engineers who want to update their knowledge of structural analysis and design. Classes begin May 29, 2012. 
Course description Structural engineers are responsible for designing safe, functional, and cost-effective structures that are also aesthetically pleasing. Their work involves the use of superior structural calculation software to meet the requirements of the current engineering standards, as well as a solid understanding of the basics of structural analysis and design. The course is designed for civil engineers who wish to update their knowledge of structural design and those interested in structural analysis and calculation who wish to refresh the key concepts and procedures concerning structural design. Professor Velez is an assistant professor in the School of Engineering at University of Antioquia. He has taught courses and seminars at the undergraduate level at several other universities. With solid experience in structural design and analysis, Mr. Velez currently serves as the president of Asociacion de Ingenieros Estructurales de Antioquia, a local structural engineers association.
