More than 47,000 applicants will take the entrance exam required for admission to Universidad de Antioquia this week. 94.3 % of the applicants (mostly public school students) belong to low-income socioeconomic status.

47,328 students aspire to fill one of the 5,631 slots available for undergraduate studies at Universidad de Antioquia. The exams will take place at UdeA main campus and at the various regional campuses.

Undergraduate programs such as medicine, civil engineering, psychology, veterinary medicine, nursing, dentistry, business administration and computer engineering, are among the most sought-after bachelor's degrees.

"We're getting ready for this event, which is one of the most important dates in our academic year. We are making our best efforts to make things in the best way possible," said UdeA rector Mauricio Alviar.

According to the Office of Admissions and Registration, 75 percent of the applicants come from public schools, while 24.8 percent come from private schools. A total of 40,124 applicants (59 percent women and 41 percent men) will take the test.
