UdeA rector announces guidelines against COVID-19

By Universidad de Antioquia

We encourage members of Universidad de Antioquia community to behave responsibly and take self-care actions as well as preventive measures. We also invite UdeA community to access only official information and statements in order to avoid the dispersion of rumors and unconfirmed data.

UdeA Rector’s Office in line with the guidelines of the competent bodies and based on recommendations made by the institutional committee of experts for addressing COVID-19, announces that the following decisions have been taken:

  • The directors of academic and administrative units must take the necessary actions so that any member of the University community returning from a country with confirmed cases of coronavirus, stays at home for a period of 14 days from the date of entry into the country. According to the measures taken by the National Government, self-isolation for those returning from China, Spain, France and Italy is mandatory. Click to see the updated list of countries with confirmed cases of the virus.
  • People who have respiratory symptoms after returning from countries with confirmed cases of the virus should dial 123 (if you are in the metropolitan area), or #744 (if you are in a municipality outside Medellín).
  • From March to April 2020, all academic events and activities involving international displacement of people to and from UdeA facilities will be suspended. For events already scheduled, attendees are recommended to use ICT as much as possible, instead of attending events.
  • Activities and events involving massive attendance of people in indoor spaces such as auditoriums and theaters, will be suspended during March and April.

To date, no member of the university community has tested positive for the virus. Those who have respiratory symptoms and have not traveled to countries with presence of the virus, or have not been in contact with infected people, should treat symptoms in the same way as a common respiratory disease.

UdeA through its Student Wellness Office and the Vice Chancellor Office has launched an educational initiative about COVID-19 by using the available institutional means and resources.

The University will continue announcing the pertinent decisions as the situation progresses, emphasizing the effective management of this matter in order to help understand and confront everything related to COVID-19 and avoid misinformation. We are attentive to the guidelines issued by the health agencies and the competent authorities.
