The School of Nursing at Universidad de Antioquia offers a specialty in care of the critically ill child. The duration of the program is 3 semesters and is aimed at nursing professionals.

Classes run on a fortnightly basis from Monday through Wednesday (8 a.m. . 4 p.m.).

Program objectives

The Specialty in Nursing Care of the Critically Ill Child is designed to improve nursing care standards for critically ill patients through the implementation of the so called Nursing Process along with a complete set of nursing skills in order to mitigate, counteract or prevent the effects associated with issues such as health deterioration and injuries resulting from trauma.  The program strives to produce professionals who are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and competencies they will need to provide excellent nursing care for critically ill patients and their families.

Career opportunities

Graduates of the nursing specialty can work in a variety of settings including emergency departments, intensive and intermediate care units, and are prepared to provide advanced and specialized nursing care for critically ill patients while they develop the skills required for effective interdisciplinary, intersectoral work.

• Admission selection process: November 1 – 10, 2016
• Admission test: November 18, 2016
• Notification of admission: December 2, 2016
