They include the promotion of entrepreneurship, the pre-incubation and incubation of start-ups, and the transfer of knowledge to the community. In that way, the third mission of universities is fulfilled, which is to be agents of innovation and sustainable growth and creators of value, wealth, and wellbeing in its surroundings.

The PGT was formally established in 2004 with the purpose of acting as a liaison between the university and the companies of its social and economic environment, and promoting the entrepreneurial spirit in the academic community of the university.

It supports the academic units providing advice in the management of research, technological development, and innovation (R+D+i) projects, orientation of policies regarding technological management at the university, evaluation and protection of research results, intellectual property, negotiation and contracting for university-company engagement, promotion of entrepreneurial culture, and creation of businesses.

As for the Entrepreneurship Park, it emerged from the PGT, in 2005, as an alliance between the Medellín Mayor’s Office and Universidad de Antioquia in order to contribute to the public policy of entrepreneurship, through the promotion of the entrepreneurial culture and the creation and operation of new high-impact businesses, engaging the entrepreneurship and innovation system stakeholders.

Currently, it has consolidated as a specialized platform in entrepreneurship, committed to the support to and incubation of innovative business initiatives and projects based on knowledge, that revitalize the competitiveness and economy of the region and that project themselves to national and international markets.
