Endodontics Graduate Program

Program overview

The Graduate Program in Endodontics at Universidad de Antioquia is a 2-year degree and certificate program that aims to prepare skilled, competent professionals who are committed to high ethical standards of conduct. Students will develop the ability to diagnose and treat all manifestations of pulpal and periapical disease. The curriculum is designed to teach students to use critical thinking concepts and research skills as tools in deepening their understanding of the specialty.

Learning aims and outcomes

Graduates of the program are prepared to serve with the highest ethical and moral integrity and for successful integration into the academic community. The program is designed to produce highly innovative professionals of critical thought who are also committed to generating new interdisciplinary knowledge.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Understand the morphology, physiology and pathology of the dental pulp and the periapical tissues.
  • Apply their knowledge and skills to preserve the vitality of the dental pulp.
  • Develop explanatory models of the mechanisms of action involved in the progressive nature of pulpal and periapical disease.
  • Critically assess a number of endodontic treatment options including root canal procedures, periradicular surgery and management of dental trauma.
  • Do thorough examination of orofacial pain patient to provide appropriate treatment based upon individual patient needs.
  • Promote research and teaching activities aimed at improving the quality of endodontics.

UdeA School of Dentistry has state-of-the-art clinical facilities and units, including:

  • School of Dentistry’s clinical facilities
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center
  • School of Dentistry’s primary dental care clinic
  • Minor surgery unit
