Program description

In today’s world there is growing trend towards strengthening the link between art and research as a way to produce new forms of knowledge. Therefore, now more than ever, art education emphasizes on research and advanced training.

There is a general consensus that art is closely related to research. However, many artists, critics and historians have become increasingly interested in focusing their work on analyzing society and culture from an aesthetic point of view.

The School of Arts at Universidad de Antioquia offers a 3-year graduate program for the study of the history and theory of art, leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
