The program is aimed at young high school graduates with a vocation for engineering, preferably with a desire to lead and be identified with the electrical energy sector, with skills in the areas of mathematics, physics, and chemistry, with a good capacity for spatial abstraction and logical reasoning; with high social sensitivity and enthusiasm for contributing to the economic development of the regions and the country, and aware that this development goes hand in hand with environmental sustainability and its resources.

The electrical engineer of Universidad de Antioquia is characterized by his/her humanistic, ethical, moral commitment, and for defending the environment, with knowledge and skills for the design, planning, optimization, operation, systematization and automation of electrical and control systems, and in the commercialization, efficient management and rational use of energy.

Professor’s profile

Professors who work in the Electrical Engineering program have a high commitment to the training of new professionals in the related areas of the program, from the point of view of the application, research, innovation, and development of equipment, tools, models, and analysis for solving problems related to electromagnetic compatibility, power quality, power electronics, renewable energies, planning of electrical and energy systems, automation of industrial processes and extrapolation of mathematical and physical models to reality. In addition, the electrical design of industrial and residential facilities, electrical and energy studies, the application of mathematical optimization as a tool to improve industrial processes, simulation, and the use of the English language, are also characteristics of professors.
